Curriculum: Journeying With God by ACSI
By the end of this course, students will:
- Be able to clearly explain the purpose and message of each book in the Old Testament.
- Understand the significance of the Old Testament in relation to the New Testament.
- Know the significant people and events that shaped Old Testament history.
- Be familiar with the historical, cultural, and geographical contexts of the Old Testament.
- Be able to discuss and explain the major theological themes found in the Old Testament.
- Explain the relevance and significance of the Old Testament for contemporary believers.
- Understand how the entire Old Testament points to, prepares the way for, and is fulfilled by Jesus the Messiah.
- Be equipped for further study, teaching, and preaching from the Old Testament.

Phil Ayres
Phil Ayres has been faithfully serving as an ordained pastor at Lifepoint Christian Church since 2003, and he has been the lead teaching pastor since 2007. A graduate of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI, Phil brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion for teaching God’s Word in every setting.
In addition to his pastoral work, Phil is the host of the nationally syndicated children's radio program "Keys for Kids," which can be heard multiple times daily on Z88. His ability to connect with audiences of all ages is evident in his engaging and approachable teaching style.
Phil is also the author of the 2018 book "Flannel-Graph Jesus: More Than a One Dimensional Savior," where he explores the depth and richness of Jesus beyond the traditional Sunday School stories.
