K-2nD SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES - Mrs. swan

Overview: The K–2nd classroom will explore science and social studies through engaging thematic units. These units provide hands-on opportunities to enhance students’ understanding of science and social studies while supporting continued growth in reading, writing, and creative arts.

Learning to Read: This classroom is designed for students who are in the "learning to read and write" stage. While phonics-based reading lessons and structured writing activities are taught at home by parents, classroom lessons will complement this by incorporating interactive activities that encourage reading and writing in a collaborative setting.

3RD-5TH SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES - MRS. CLARK

Overview: The 3rd–5th grade classroom offers an exciting dive into science and social studies through hands-on experiments, collaborative projects, and independent work. Young scientists will develop critical thinking skills as they learn to ask questions, make predictions, and embrace mistakes as part of the learning process. Social studies will come to life with engaging topics in economics, geography, history, and culture.

Reading to Learn: Designed for students who are in the “reading to learn” stage, the 3rd–5th grade classroom builds on reading and writing skills. While parents focus on reading comprehension and structured writing at home, classroom lessons will integrate these skills through the study of science and social studies texts. This balanced approach helps students strengthen their reading and writing skills in a meaningful, subject-driven context.

6th-8th Science & Social Studies - Mrs. Ayres

Overview: The 6th–8th grade classroom is where students will take their science and social studies knowledge to the next level. Through deep exploration, students will create connections based on what they’ve learned, collect data from experiments, and conduct research to support their findings.

Reading for Critical Analysis and Synthesis: This classroom is designed for students who are ready to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information from more complex texts. Students will develop their critical thinking skills, learn to form personal conclusions, develop arguments, and support their ideas with evidence.

Homework & Preparation: Middle school students will be assigned homework to prepare for upcoming classes, reinforce lessons and help them stay on track with their studies.
